Camogie U10 Go Games v Mungret19 players turned up for a Go Game match in Mungret last Tuesday. This was a great turnout and thanks to all the parents who made the extra effort to arrange for their girls to be at the match. We had a good hard match with Mungret doing most of the pressing early on. By half time Monaleen needed a lift and a good response from the girls in the 2nd half saw a much improved performance with Monaleen being the better team in that period. The girls are improving with every game and with a blitz in Cappamore this Saturday 26th (see Calendar on website), the girls will be well drilled when they take part in the annual U10 county blitz in Newcastlewest on Sunday June 10th with over 300 girls playing from all over the county.  Panel: Ciara McDonnell, Mia O'Halloran, Roisin D'Arcy, Fiona Gleeson, Charlie Drury, Grace Butler, Francesca Kearns, Susan D'Arcy, Aine Gahan, Emma Rae, Laura Burke, Bailey McNamara, Lucy D'Arcy, Ali Power, Aoife Nelligan, Grace Clohessy, Aoife Doyle, Sarah Sheahan, Clodagh Power.

Camogie U14A - League Quarter Final - Monaleen 7-6 Croagh 2-4 Our U14s continued their great form in the league with a win over Croagh in the quarter final on Tuesday 22nd. Great defensive performances by Shalini Kujur, Aisling Doyle  and Sinead Quinn kept Croagh to one score in the second half while Caoimhe Lyons put in another impressive performance at the other end. We now face féile champions Crecora in the semi-final on Thurs 31st in Monaleen which promises to be another cracker. All supporters welcome! Panel  Aisling Kennedy, Niamh Holmes, Sinead Quinn, Aisling Doyle (0-2), Shalini Kujur, Taine Amodeo, Jane Clohessy, Anna Burke, Caoimhe Lyons (6-4), Robyn McDonnell, Claire Kelly(1-0), Laura Griffin, Aine Doyle, Susan Fullen, Nicole Kearns, Aoife O Driscoll, Genevieve Pinson, Fiona Fitzpatrick, Sinead Hanrahan, Cliodhna McCarthy, Sophia Kumeh.

Camogie U12 Go Games

In the Go Games Series, the U12 RED team played away to Treaty Gaels and our WHITES team were away to Granagh Ballingarry on Thursday in glorious sunshine. We had 11 players and all played. Plenty of water was taken on board and a pattern quickly emerged of Monaleen taking the game to the Gaels. By half-time Monaleen were on top with strong performances across the pitch. The 2nd half continued in the same vein as Monaleen dominated midfield, eventually coming out on top. Top scorers for Monaleen: Aine Doyle 2-2, Orlaith Gallagher 2-0 and Taine Amodeo chipped in with a score. Other players to perform strongly were Aine Nelligan who was excellent at centre back and  Tara Hogan. The referee had stern words for the players at full time for disputing decisions during the game. Respect for the referee is an important part of the game and all Monaleen players need to remember this and to concentrate on playing the game to the best of their ability.

We had a small turnout for the WHITES this week but they made a good account of themselves in a hard fought match in Granagh Ballingarry. The home team proved stronger in the end despite some great performances by Kerri O Donoghue, Aoife Carmody, Sarah Costello, Ruth Heavey and Rachel O Dell

Under 11 Hurling League - The Under 11 team, playing as the B team in the Under 12 league, continued their excellent progress with a good win at Kildimo-Pallaskenry. Played in blistering heat, the players let the ball do the work, and put together many fine moves.  On this occasion, the Monaleen team had too much for the opposition and ran out comfortable winners. Some fine teamwork was on display as well as some notable scores byJames Flannery, Caolan Madden, Niall McGrath and Paul Ross, among others.  Team : Conor Coombs, Eoin Twomey, James Flannery, Jason Aylward, John Toland, Caolan Dignam, Caolan Madden, Paul Ross, Brian O'Donnell, Niall McGrath, Conor Deegan, Morgan Connolly.

U12 Girls FootballMonaleen 6-5 Galtee Gaels 2-1
We played Galtee Gaels last Monday evening and came out on top. The visitors went into an early lead with a good goal but we gradually began to  dominate possession through Vicky Enright and Mikayla Curran and the scores followed to leave us in front by 3-2 to 1-0 at half time. Galtee Gaels started the second half brightly with an expertly finished goal to narrow the gap but we pulled away again to close out the match. Scorers on the night for us were Amy Haugh (1-0),Taine Amodeo (1-1), Caitlin Bonfil (1-0) Rachel O' Dell (1-2) Annie Russell (1-1) and Ruth Heavey( 1-1). The final score does not reflect the skill and spirit of our opponents who were conceding height advantage in most positions.

U12 Girls FootballMonaleen 3-6 St Brigids 1-2
The girls continued their good form at home on Friday night against a competitive St Brigids team. Brigids started the better but were unlucky to hit a few wides. Emma Donohoe and Emma Doyle began to get on top at half back for us and with midfielders Mikayla Curran and Annie Russell moving the ball nicely into the forward line we went up 3-4 to no score at half time. Brigids were quickly off the mark with a lovely point at the start of the second half. This woke us up at the back where Jade O' Connor and Aine Nelligan came strongly into the game. We added two more points before Brigids hit us with a good goal after ten minutes to leave the score 3-6 to 1-1 in our favour. They added another point in the closing minutes but it wasn't enough to close the gap. Panel: C.Maletta ( capt.)
