Camogie U14s League
Monaleen 4-6 Ahane 3-2
Monaleen proved too strong in the end against a determined Ahane side on Thurs 4th. Our girls played good open camogie and are showing great signs of progress in preparation for Feile 2013. Our defense held strong conceding only one score in the first with Shalini Kujur, Annie Russell and Katie Golden providing a very solid half back line. At the other end Taine Amodeo (3-2) was in great scoring form along with Ruth Heavey (1-0) and Claire Kelly (0-4) with her accurate free taking. We also had some fine performances by our younger members of the squad, with Sarah Quilligan, Tara Hogan Caitlin Bonfil, Maeve Rea, Ellen Magnier, Laura Hogan and Emma Donohoe featuring. Next match is away to Patrickswell.
Team: Aisling Kennedy, Aine Nelligan, Fiona Fitzpatrick, Susan Fullen, Anna Burke, Tara Hogan, Sarah Quilligan, Shalini Kujur, Katie Golden, Annie Russell, Ellen Magnier, Laura Hogan, Maeve Rea, Emma Donohoe, Claire Kelly (0-4), Taine Amodeo (3-2), Aine Doyle, Ruth Heavey (1-0), Robyn McDonnell,  Aoife O Driscoll, Kerri O Donoghue.

Camogie U16’s League
Monaleen Under 16s commenced their A league campaign with an away trip to Killeedy on Sunday last.  The match played in Siberian like conditions was a match of two halves, resulting from a gale with rain blowing straight down the pitch. Monaleen playing into the gale, actually took the lead with a well taken point from Caoimhe Lyons, but for the remainder of the half, we were very much on the defensive, with Aisling Kennedy, Sinead Quinn, Les Ivory, Eimear Nelson and Fiona Fitzpatick in the defense under severe pressure. On resumption of the second half we came roaring back into the game, with great goals by Caoimhe Lyons and Aine Doyle, with points from Aisling kennedy and Caoimhe Lyons bringing the scoreline much closer, but we had left too much to do in the second half against one of the strongest at this grade. Others to play well were Shalini Kutur, Aisling Doyle, Nicole Sheehan, Megan O Mara, Annie Russell and Laura Griffin.
A very promising start to the league campaign and we look forward to hosting neighbours Ahane next Sunday.
