All Ireland Colleges Camogie

Aine Doyle was on the Laurel Hill side that won the All Ireland colleges Junior Final on Saturday with a 3-8 to 2-4 victory over Gorey Community College.

This was Laurel Hills second all Ireland final in 2 weeks and following last weeks narrow defeat the pressure was on to bring a coveted all Ireland trophy back to Limerick.

Just one point separated the teams at half time but Laurel Hill were much the stronger in the second period.

Camogie U14 – Blitz in Cappmore 16thMarch

Monaleen 2-0 St Finbarrs (Cork) 0-2

Our U14s took part in a blitz on Sat and came away with two wins from two. First up we played St Finbarrs from Cork, very strong opposition, but our girls were up for the challenge. A great start with a fine strike from Taine Amodeo gave us an early one goal lead. St Finbarrs fought back with two points, but would have had more only the great work by our backs and Aisling Kennedy in goals kept the score down. Another goal, this time by Claire Kelly, finished off a great team move involving Annie Russell, Robyn McDonnell and Ruth Heavey extended the lead which we held to the end.

Monaleen 3-3 Cappamore 0-1

In the second match we played Cappamore and won well. Again a great all round team display with our backs proving very resilient, Fiona Fitzpatrick, Shalini Kujur, Annie Russell, Katie Golden, Anna Burke Laura Hogan, Keelin Corcoran & Aine Nelligan were in very determined form keeping Cappamore to a single score. At the other end Aisling Kennedy (1-2), Taine Amodeo (0-1), Robyn McDonnell(1-0) and Ruth Heavey (1-0) were accurate in their shooting which proved the difference on the day.

Well done girls – a great start to our preparations for Feile 2013. Keep up the great work.
