Camogie U14 League. Ballyagran 9-3 Monaleen 10-1

Monaleen resumed their league campaign on Tues 15th with a one point win over Ballyagran in what was a highly entertaining encounter. It was a free flowing and scoring contest as the scoreline suggests Caoimhe Lyons was in devastating form scoring 9-1, but it took a fine goal from Anna Bourke to clinch the match near the end.  We now move on to the knockout stages of the league and having won all our matches Monaleen will play in the A competition and have a home quarter final match against Croagh on Tuesday 22nd 7pm.

Panel: Aisling Kennedy, Shalini Kujur, Cliodhna McCarthy, Caoimhe Lyons(9-1), Sinead Quinn, Taine Amodeo, Aisling Doyle, Susan Fullen, Nicole Kearns, Katie Golden, Anna Bourke(1-0), Sophia Kumeh, Sinead Hanrahan, Genevieve Pinson, Aine Doyle, Laura Griffin, Aoife O Driscoll, Fiona Fitzpatrick, Lisa Shelly.

Camogie U12s Go Games
The U12 Go Games continue to be a big hit we have almost 30 players in this age group split into two squads. The REDS played away to Murroe Boher and the WHITES travelled to Croagh. This week the REDS are away to Treaty Gaels and the WHITES home to Granagh Ballingarry. These games are great for skills development and we can see great improvements week on week. Keep up the great work girls.

Camogie U10s & U8s blitz - Cappamore Sat 26th
Not to be outdone - the younger squads are also in full flight these days - next up is a cluster blitz in Cappamore on Sat 26th starting at 11.00am and due to finish at 1pm. Contact Julian and James for details.

U9 and U10 hurling: Our young squads played in a Limerick GAA Mackey Cluster Hurling blitz last Friday in Adare Community Fields. We fielded two teams each consisting each of a  mix of U9 and U10 players who competed against feisty hurlers from Adare and Croagh/Kilfinny. Both our teams played well scoring 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 narrow defeat. Ronan Lyons unselfishly worked his socks off in midfield, Sean O’Catháin, Darragh Connaughton and Nicky O’Dwyer proved to be tough backs, while Gavin Hayes, John Ryan and Max Ivory caused all sorts of problems for their opponents. Others to play included  Darragh Quinn, Shane Twomey,  John Foley, Robert O’Sullivan, Eric Stritch, Liam Dillon, Noel Clancy, Ryan Power, Conor Carew and Paul O’Shea. Everyone enjoyed themselves and we thank Adare for being great hosts, as always. Well done to all teams who played on the night. Congrats also to our Monaleen/Milford school boys who recently made their First Communion! Training resumes this Friday evening 6.30pm.

Our u13 footballers commenced their season with a very competitive if narrow defeat away to Pallasgreen in the U14b league. A close first half saw some good individual points from Conor Nicholas and Cathal Carew to keep Monaleen in touch as both sides traded scores. Midway through the first half,a free from Shane Donegan was dispatched to the net by Alex O’Donoghue. Monaleen were now dominating possession but failure to take the scoring opportunities would tell ,as shortly after Pallasgreen netted to leave the sides delicately poised at half time.

The second half started with a couple of good scores from Pallasgreen to leave them two points clear. Some fine link play by the impressive Eoin O’Shea and Conor Bermingham set up a good scoring opportunity for the visitors and the resulting free was expertly dispatched to the net by the hard working Jeff Hogan, to leave Monaleen ahead by the narrowest of margins. As fulltime approached, the younger Monaleen side started to tire and from a defensive mix up Pallasgreen goaled to leave the final score 2-6 to 2-4.  This was a very encouraging display by our thirteen footballers and augurs well for the rest of the season and indeed for next year. Conall McAteer, Sam Burns, James Hallas, Cian Mulcahy, Eoin O’Shea, Conor Bermingham, Sean FInucane, Shane Donegan, Cathal Carew, Philip Harty, Alex O’Donoghue, James Quinlan, Jeff Hogan, Cathal Quilter, Sean Mulkern, Oisin Cross, Cathal Humphreys, Patrick Griffin, Ian Campbell, Dean Stritch, Paul Clancy.

U11 Football. Our U11 footballers took to the field in Askeaton last week for their second game in the U12b league. A great performance all round in a very tight game that was only decided by a late goal by Askeaton. Scores from Jason Alyward, Caolain Dignam,  Caolain Madden and Paul Ross kept us well in contention throughout the game. Good skills on display and great see the team developing. A great defensive display from all of the backs throughout the game. Final score 3.02 to 2.02. Team was.
