Intermediate Camogie
On Sunday Monaleen Camogie Club played our first match at intermediate grade combining with Tournafulla from West Limerick. The match v Ballybrown was played in Tournafulla which despite the rain was a good dry surface. Ballybrown started well against the breeze with 4 quick points but a goal for Tournafulla/Monaleen settled the team. It was mid-way through the second half before a Niamh Doyle goal levelled the game and it look as if a victory was there for the taking. However injuries to two of the stronger girls on our side allowed Ballybrown to finish with 2 late goals. Final score Ballybrown 3-8 Tournafulla/Monaleen 3-2. A great experience for the girls and a big step up from minor & U16, Grainne Fullen had a great game in the full back line with Les Ivors in the half back line and Eileen Russell in the full forward line contributing well.

Camogie U14 League 16th April
Treaty Gaels 2-1 Monaleen 2-1

Our U14s played Treaty Gaels in an exciting draw on Tue 16th. Some of our younger members of the squad got an opportunity to display their skills and they really stepped up to the mark. Maeve Rea and Ellen Magnier were strong in midfield while Tara Hogan, Susan Fullen and Sarah Quilligan were very solid in defence. Emma Donohoe was in blistering form up front scoring all 2-1, including a fine long range point to draw the match.

Next up Ballybrown on 23rd.

Team: Claire Kelly, Sarah Quilligan, Tara Hogan, Susan Fullen, Sarah Costelloe, Katie Golden, Anna Burke, Laura Hogan, Ellen Magnier, Maeve Rea, Keelin Corcoran, Ruth Heavey, Emma Donohoe, Aoife O Driscoll, Aisling Fitzgerald, Kerry O Donoghue, Sarah Quinn.

Camogie U16 League
Monaleen U16 camogie team played their second A league match of the season against our near neighbours Ahane . We were short a number of senior players on the night and this gave a great opportunity to others to step up. The team gave a great performance and playing into a strong wind in the first half we trailed by 2 points. We had sterling defensive performances by Emer Nelson, Sinead Quinn, Niamh Holmes, Nicole Sheehan and Shalini Kutur and ably assisted by our midfield pairing of Megan O'Meara and Annie Russell. The feature of the first half was a magnificient save by Aisling Kennedy in the Monaleen goal which would have been replayed over and over on the Sunday Game if cameras had been present. The second half saw us draw level with 2 great points by Aisling Doyle but a point followed up by a goal with almost the last puck of the game saw Ahane winning. The future is bright for this group when we witnessed the very impressive display of some of our younger girls , in particular Aine Doyle and also Laura Griffin, Fiona Fitzpatrick and Robyn Mc Donnell.
