Minor Championship v St Annes

Monaleen/Patrickswell  had a home match on Sunday in the second round. Visitors were St Annes from Kerry who represent the bulk of the Kerry minor team and so presented a huge challenge to the girls. Midway through the first half with the score at 3 point to 2, an upset was on the cards, with our girls playing the best of the hurling. Nicole Sheehan at centre back was in great form as there seemed no way through to goal for the Kerry team.  A Megan O Mara point was all the girls could register for the remainder of the half however as St Annes scored 1-3 to lead 1-6 to 3 points at the break. In difficult conditions the second half remained scoreless for a long period with Monaleen needing a goal to put the opposition under pressure. As in the first half the scores would not come and another point from Megan was all that Monaleen could manage. Another good performance against a very good team but our first win in the competition still eludes the girls.
Monaleen players: Grainne Fullen, Niamh Holmes, Aisling Doyle, Megan O Mara(0-2), Sinead Quinn, Niamh Doyle, Nicole Sheehan; Laura Griffin; Eileen Russell .
